Political Analyst and Lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Journalism and University of Ghana, Dr Kobby Mensah believes the creation of additional ministries like the Ministry of Sanitation, Railways and Development is careful thought out plan which will be beneficial to Ghanaians.
According to him, Ghanaians, especially those in Sekondi-Takoradi are in dire need of railways to ease the stress involved in their means of transportation.
“I am particularly thrilled about President Nana Addo’s creation of the Sanitation, Railways and Monitoring ministries. It’s not superior or ground-breaking, as many have said before – they are strategic and very much needed by the Ghanaian people. The hard part, though, is delivery”, he reiterated.
Meanwhile sections of the Ghanaian populace have expressed their disappointments on some of the ministerial appointments.
They claim is a drain in the coffers of the ministry because you have to allocate some incentives to each and every ministry and if the list should go on, we all know who will be at the loosing end; Ghana.
Again, it will lead to duplication of responsibilities, where you don’t know who should be directly in charge of a particular project.
He cautioned the appointees to fulfill the roles expected of them and the ministry within which they find themselves.
“I am very particular about the ministry railway development because of my personal affiliations to Takoradi”, he said.
